about

Not many people will have heard of “Hard The Transition” , in fact some people have questioned whether they actually exist at all.

The release of this single” perhaps puts to bed at long last the myth of their existence.

We managed to catch the band playing a set in a basement café in Levenshulme in November 2014 and were immediately struck by their song-writing prowess and musical proficiency. A few beers were drunk, phone numbers were exchanged and a couple of months later we were in the bands studios in Heckmondwike hearing them laying down some music.

Formed in 1972 in Liversedge and Cleckheaton, the band has gone through many line-up changes and none of the original members survived, mostly because they have all died in somewhat mysterious circumstances. Their musical content and delivery is mixed, leaping from genre to genre in their sets, and sometimes in one song, with no regard for the accepted conventions of the music industry.

The current line-up of the band is

Sal Ventana – Guitar : Sal has played with many bands over his career including “Onan & The Pedicures” “The Post Rationalists” and “Marsh Rawfolds”.

Keye Luke – Bass – Keye is the oldest member of the band – he is originally from Hong Kong and moved to Batley in the late 80s. He models his style on Jaco Pastorius, Jack Bruce and Lemmy Kilminster.

Bonnie Matar – Keyboards – Bonnie is from Venezuela and has had a wide ranging career as an exotic dancer, insurance salesman and chicken sexer before being discovered in a opium den in Cleckheaton by members of the band and hired on the spot because of her ability to cover Billy Joel Songs.

Cangur De La Tanga – Drummer Cangur is from Spain and spent the first thirty years of his life as a militiaman in an obscure left wing sect. Renouncing a life of violence in the late eighties he entered a monastery in North Wales where he learned to play the drums. After ten years as a monk he moved to Hipperholme where apart from playing drums in Hard The Transition he runs a social networking website.

Lash Pedicure - Vocals. Notoriously shy Lash models his vocal style on Lou Reed, Don Van Vliet and Edgar Broughton. He was previously the front man with "Onan &The Pedicures".

The band have recorded over forty albums none of which are sadly available today – the majority of their stock of material including master tapes being destroyed in a house fire in 2012. Financial problems have meant they have not had chance to release any new material since then but plans are underway to re-record much of the backlog following Lash Pedicure's recent win on the National Lottery.
